Organizational Structure

Two research groups

MaxPo comprises two research groups, directed by Olivier Godechot and Cornelia Woll, who each develop a five-year research program for themselves and up to three doctoral students. They cooperate closely in directing the Center, taking turns in representing the Center in relation with Sciences Po and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. They work in close consultation with the Center’s Joint Council and represent the Center in relation to its Advisory and Evaluation Committee.

A Senior international scholars in residence work at the Center, contributing to its research program with their own research, organizing workshops, contributing to teaching in the cotutelle doctoral program, and participating in the supervision of doctoral students. Moreover, the Center hosts researchers from the MPIfG and other Max Planck institutes and invites leading scholars from other institutions to come as visiting researchers for shorter periods.

Joint Council

Responsibility for the operation of the Center is with a managing committee consisting of members of the scientific direction of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies and Sciences Po. The Joint Council advises the research group leaders on a current basis with respect to the selection of research projects and research staff, and generally on the activities at the Center. Final decisions on the research program will rest with the research group leaders.

International Advisory Board

An international advisory board appointed by the Max Planck Society and Sciences Po advises and evaluates the research of the Center.

The Center is fully operational as of October 2012. It is located at the premises of Sciences Po in Paris.
